Khan Do Kwan's WARDA® Program Continues Successful Women's Safety Training in Indianapolis INDIANAPOLIS, IN — October 7, 2026
The World Khan Do Kwan Federation is proud to highlight the continued success of WARDA® — Women Against Rape & Domestic Abuse, a women's counter-assault and personal-safety program founded by Grandmaster Javed Khan in 1998.
Today, Grandmaster Khan conducted the third monthly WARDA® training session for female City-County Government employees at the City-County Building in Indianapolis.
The continuing training initiative brings the practical principles of Khan Do Kwan into an area of tremendous importance: helping women develop the awareness, mindset, confidence, and physical skills necessary to recognize danger, respond decisively, and escape a violent encounter.
KHAN DO KWAN PRINCIPLES IN PRACTICAL APPLICATION
WARDA® is much more than a traditional self-defense class. The program applies practical martial arts principles to the realities women may face outside the training floor. Participants learn to use natural weapons, vulnerable targets, strikes, kicks, defensive responses, movement, and escape strategies in a manner that does not depend upon size, rank, or years of martial arts experience.
The objective is not to remain engaged in a fight.
It is to:
DISRUPT THE ATTACK • CREATE THE OPENING • BREAK CONTACT • ESCAPE
Today's participants trained hands-on in a variety of practical counter-assault skills, with the emphasis remaining on realistic application, personal safety, and survivability.
OUTSTANDING PARTICIPANT RESPONSE
The post-training evaluations reflected an extremely positive response to the program.
Participants rated the training strongly in areas including the usefulness of the information, realism of the techniques, clarity of instruction, hands-on practice, instructor demonstration, training environment, opportunity to practice, and pace of instruction.
Even more encouraging was the participants' response when asked what they would like to see changed or added to the training.
Several simply wanted:
“More time.”
“More often.”
“More sessions.”
That is perhaps one of the strongest measures of a successful training program—the participants leave not only having learned, but wanting to continue learning.
FROM MARTIAL ARTS TO PERSONAL SAFETY
WARDA® represents an important part of the broader Khan Do Kwan philosophy: martial arts knowledge should have practical value and should be capable of serving people beyond competition or traditional training.
Grandmaster Javed Khan created WARDA® to give women a structured system that combines situational awareness, prevention, verbal boundaries, survival mindset, practical counter-assault skills, and escape.
The program does not attempt to turn every participant into a martial artist.
Instead, it gives ordinary women practical tools they can understand, practice, and potentially use when their personal safety is threatened.
THREE MONTHLY CLASSES — AND THE MOMENTUM CONTINUES
The October 7 training marked the third monthly WARDA® session for female City-County Government employees in Indianapolis.
The enthusiasm shown by the participants—and their requests for additional training—demonstrates the value of continuing to bring practical martial arts knowledge into the community where it can make a meaningful difference.
The World Khan Do Kwan Federation congratulates all of the women who participated and trained with commitment and enthusiasm.
We look forward to seeing the WARDA® program continue to grow and reach more women.
